GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — After veering northward for a few days, bringing unusually mild temperatures and a sudden snow melt to Michigan, the Jet Stream has whipped back to the south and brought with it, the cold, snow and ice.
MDOT officials say they couldn’t pre-treat the roads with salt because the rain would have washed it away.
That means all the water frozen in place, as temperatures have plunged back below freezing.
National Weather Service Meteorologist John Kowaleski says there will be snow too, but not Lake Effect snow It’s a system blowing up out of Indiana and the snow will be inland, and not near the shore.
He expects Kalamazoo will get about of inch of fresh snow, with communities east on I-94 getting as much as 4 inches.
He says by Friday afternoon we will be back into winter, and according to long range forecasts, we will stay there until March.
