KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Somebody on the Eastern Side of Kalamazoo County is going through mail boxes, stealing other people’s mail, taking checks, forging them and cashing them.
Sheriff Rick Fuller says they want to the public to know so they will keep an eye peeled for someone tampering with road side mailboxes who do not work for the postal service.
He says the suspects steal paychecks and gift checks and other payments, changed the amount, and forged names to cash them.
The department says they have received reports of multiple vehicles all over the county but it seems to be focused in the Comstock, Richland and the Galesburg area, where they have had at least 50 complaints.
