KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo is at the crossing of U.S. 131 and I-94, and we have seen what wrong way drivers can do on a divided highway.
MDOT wants to reduce the number of people who drive onto the wrong ramp and cause horrendously violent high speed head-on collisions that usually result in fatalities.
They will be working with the Michigan State Police to try to reduce the frequency of such crashes by improving signage on ramps, installing cameras that will detect wrong way drivers earlier and posting alerts on highway information signs.
Their goal is to reduce them by 20%.
