KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The suspect in a Berrien County murder is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says the young female victim was reported missing on Sunday by her family.
Police found the woman’s vehicle outside of the Hayward Wells apartment complex in Benton Harbor not long after. The woman was dead inside the vehicle, an apparent victim of foul play.
An investigation quickly identified the suspect as her long time boy friend.
He was arrested by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety on unrelated drug and weapon charges.
A warrant request is pending in Berrien County for open murder, and an autopsy is planned on the victim for Tuesday.
Police have not yet released any names.
