HARTFORD (WKZO AM/FM) — It took 8 hours in the freezing cold, but a barricaded gunman finally surrendered yesterday in Van Buren County.
The suspect allegedly threatened a mechanic at a repair shop in Hartford with a loaded assault rifle yesterday and then retreated to his home nearby.
He is in custody this morning.Van Buren’s Sheriff requested assistance from the Van Buren SWAT unit so they could rotate shifts in the bitter cold.
Deputies say eventually 27-year-old Frank Cotman surrendered without incident, and was booked into the Van Buren County Jail, on a pending larceny warrant.
No shots were ever fired. New charges are pending.
