WAYLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – An autopsy will be conducted before the identity of a 44-year-old man who apparently perished in a mobile home fire near Wayland yesterday is officially disclosed.
Crews were called to the 3400 block of Dale Drive in the Rabbit River Estates complex off of 135th Avenue around 9:40 AM, finding flames coming out of the unit’s windows when they arrived. After bringing the blaze under control, firefighters were able to recover the man’s body in the kitchen area. Various media outlets are reporting that the victim is Jason Morgan, and that a memorial vigil for him is slated for tonight, beginning outside of the Wayland police station.
No responders were injured, and neither a cause nor a estimated dollar amount of damage was immediately determined as the incident remains under investigation by local and state fire marshal offices.
