KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The cold has impacted a lot of things and now it’s being blamed for shutting down the AMC Theatre in Downtown Kalamazoo.
A burst water pipe soaked carpets and may have damaged the theatre’s digital servers. The manager says they will be closed again Tuesday, they are assessing the situation and addressing the mess.
It’s not clear when the theatre will be back in business.
The ten-screen Multiplex just reopened two months ago today. Management says they will refund any pre-sold tickets.It was so cold and snowy this weekend that even trains had problems.
Snow and ice got into the sensors controlling the signals In Bangor at the rail crossing at W. Monroe and Railroad Street yesterday afternoon, shutting down the roadway until a crew could clean out the sensor late last night.
Sunday night, the 148 passengers who boarded Amtrak’s Wolverine train 352 in Chicago got into Kalamazoo 4 hours later than scheduled because of an engine problem in Chicago and switch problems caused by snow and cold in New Buffalo.
Because of further delays to relieve crews in Kalamazoo and Albion, the train finally rolled into Pontiac 12-hours late, about 17-hours after the passengers had boarded the train.
