SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN (WKZO AM/FM) — The National Weather Service has declared a wind-chill advisory that will be in effect until 1 p.m. for the southernmost counties in S.W. Michigan, including Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Van Buren Counties.
As cold as it has been, it was even colder this morning and that has prompted the advisory. NWS Meteorologist Alex Manion says dress appropriately and hang in there, the end of the deep freeze is in sight.
His climate models show rising temperatures in the 20’s and 30’s this weekend. Fortunately most schools in the area are still on winter break.
Just south of the Indiana border, a wind chill warning has been issued.
Nationally the cold blast has left five dead in four states so far. .
