ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There will be a vacancy on the Allegan County Circuit Court bench later this month that will need to be filled.
Both M-Live and the Commerical Record cite a letter to other judges in the county, dated December 23rd, in reporting that Judge Kevin Cronin will retire next Friday, January 12th, with two years remaining in his six-year term. No other reason was given in the letter, and Cronin has refused any public comment on the matter.
Cronin was first elected to the post in 2008 with a 255-vote margin over William Baillargeon, who had been appointed by Governor Granholm to fill a vacancy created the year before when Harry Beach resigned, and Cronin won reelection without a challenge six years later.
Governor Snyder will appoint a successor to complete Cronin’s term.
