ARLINGTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It was a cold New Years Eve for crews from eight neighboring departments who came to the assistance of the Bangor Community Fire Department in putting out a blaze that “destroyed” a Bangor-area business last night.
According to the South Haven Area Emergency Services, tankers had to shuttle water in minus-two temperatures so that the flames which engulfed May’s Furniture and Antiques, at the corner of 52nd Street and M-43, could be brought under control. The first alarm was reported just after 6:00 p.m. The building was unoccupied at the time, and there were no reported injuries sustained by responding firefighters.
A cause of the blaze and a dollar estimate of damage done by the fire were not immediately determined as the incident remains under investigation.
