CASS COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — People who have owned snowmobiles for years with little chance to use them are finding a lot of uses for them now, and a lot more places to use them.
In the last week there have been at least two snowmobile crashes in Cass County. The latest occurred Wednesday night at about 8:17 when 42-year-old Erick Black of Union lost control of his snowmobile heading north in a field east of M-217 and was thrown off the sled.
He suffered injuries to his legs. A female relative, 18-year-old Kyia Black was also tossed from the bike and hurt her wrist when she landed.
Both were transported to Elkhart General for treatment.
Snowmobile accidents out in the middle of fields can pose some special challenges for emergency responders, especially with sub-zero wind chills.
