BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Battle Creek is proposing some precinct consolidations to cut the cost of conducting elections. It could mean hundreds of voters will be reassigned to new precincts and new polling places.
The City is on a tight deadline to make the changes and is seeking public comment.
It would eliminate some precincts, close some polling places and combine others.
The biggest impacts would be felt in Precincts 7, 13, 16 and 19.
It would also reassign some voters in precincts 4, 10 and 20.
The Elections Commission plans a meeting next Wednesday, December 27th at 9 am at City Hall.
The City Commission would take up the changes on January 2nd so they can meet a state deadline on January 9th. Public comment can be made at either meeting or online.
