WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — Saturday was the third busiest shopping day of the year and today is expected the busiest day of the year at the Post Office, kicking off their busiest week, as folks drop their packages and Christmas cards into mail boxes and at post offices.
Post Master General and CEO Megan Brennan says Tuesday is the first of a series of deadlines if mailers want their items to arrive before Christmas.
Cards and letters should be mailed by Tuesday and packages by Wednesday.
Priority mail can go out on Wednesday and priority mail express can be mailed on Friday. The longer you wait, the more expensive it gets.
They have aps for everything, including tracking your packages. They anticipate Monday will also be the busiest day at usps.com, with 7-million visiting the website.
Do not dawdle. Other private carriers say volume is so high this year for online shopping that they have fallen behind and are struggling to catch up.
