EAST LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — It was an emotional MSU Board of Trustees meeting as the angry victims of Larry Nassar did not seem impressed by an apology from President Lou Anna Simon or her creation of a ten-million dollar fund for counseling for victims.
MSU President Lou Anna Simon apologized and announced a 10 million dollar fund for counseling, but that did not go over well with the victims who spoke to the board, who felt her apology was disingenuous.
Trustees maintained they had no knowledge of Nassar’s abuse involving dozens of athletes and that there has been no cover-up.
Nassar was recently sentenced to 60 years in jail for possession of child pornography, a sentence he is appealing, and will be sentenced on criminal sexual conduct charges in Eaton and Ingham Counties next month.
In a separate but related item, the board voted to give President Simon a $150-thousand dollar pay raise, but she will give it to a scholarship fund.
