KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM)– Authorities in Kalamazoo Township searched an abandoned warehouse used by vagrants that caught fire Thursday night fearing the worst.
Dozens of homeless people are known to frequent the building but police say no bodies have been found so far, but a portion of the warehouse is still too unstable to search safely, and hot spots remain.
The building is located on Pitcher South of Mosel on metro area’s far north side.
It’s owned by the County Land Bank. Treasurer Mary Balkema says it was insured and any payments they get will be applied to demolition.
The Gospel Mission says it has room for the displaced citizens.
