DEARBORN (WKZO AM/FM) — The official holiday travel season doesn’t begin until Wednesday afternoon, but somebody forgot to tell the public, because they were out clogging up the roads and airports Tuesday night.
Travel experts say the evening hours will be the busiest before Thanksgiving and Saturday and Sunday evening will be the busiest for return travelers.
Triple A’s Michelle Donati says there will be more traveling this extended weekend than they have seen in a decade, both by land and by air.
Travelers headed to Thanksgiving celebrations in southern lower Michigan likely won’t have to worry about the weather. Forecasters have not predicted any major rain or snow showers in the region leading up to the holiday.
Showers may occur on Friday or Saturday in some areas, but forecasts show dry weather for the region on Sunday.
