LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — They came in a truck that backed up to the Secretary of State’s office and had to be unloaded like a large shipment of office supplies.
Josh Hoving, spokesman for the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol says what they delivered was the petitions they have collected to put the question of recreational marijuana use on the ballot next November.
That is 113,000 more than the state law requires, collected specifically because some signatures will not be allowed because they are not from registered voters or from out of state residents.
Hoving believes they will qualify for certification.
The Legislature will be offered the option to approve the legalization of Marijuana, and if they fail to act, the question will go on the ballot.
Hoving says their goal is to raise $8-million dollars for the campaign to convince voters to say yes. Right now the only active opposition group has just $5,000 in the bank
