PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — A small fire that caused a lot of damage in a short time is being investigated by Portage investigators.
Firefighters responded to alarms at the apartments at Briargate Apartments just off Westnedge, south of I-94 and found a fire in a bathroom and closet that had spread to the apartments above.
They knocked down the flames in 15-minutes and spent the next three hours putting out hot-spots, ventilating and investigating.
They estimate the damage to the structure was about $40,000 and damage to the contents of the apartments was $50,000. There were no injuries.
