KENT COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — This is the time of the year when Michigan’s population has a lot of contact with deer and while the deer are generally on the losing end of the deal, it can be life threatening for humans as well.
An 18-year old woman from Gaines Township was killed when a deer came through the windshield of her car, which careened out of control and rolled onto its roof along 68th Street S.E.in Kent County.
Deer season begins Wednesday morning at dawn and the DNR says make sure you are wearing hunter’s orange, if you are headed for the woods. They say gun safety is a matter of just paying attention to where your gun is pointed.
Stressing the basics and controlling the dress code has greatly reduced the annual human death toll from the deer hunt, and they want to keep it that way.
