KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A driver suffered life-threatening injuries when his car slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer rig on I-94 at about 12:30 this morning in Comstock Township.
Witnesses say the car driven by the 23-year-old from Battle Creek was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the slower moving truck near the Galesburg rest area at the 83 mile marker.
His vehicle then went out of control and crashed into the retaining wall that separates west and eastbound traffic.
He was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.
The truck driver, a man from New Jersey, was not injured.
