KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s newest, and one of its largest roundabouts has opened to traffic as commuters coming in from Eastwood and Richland on Gull Road will no longer have to put up with Traffic Jams on Riverview to get into town.
Utilities director James Baker says it may take a little getting used to, but he thinks most drivers know what to do.
There are already several others in the community and there are plenty of signs and road markings to help drivers navigate the circle.
The city is calling it the Riverview Roundabout.
Baker thinks this is a lot safer than the former intersection at Ransom and Gull Street, which has been under construction all summer, and was opened for a walk around late Thursday afternoon.
They started removing the barriers at about 5 am Friday.
