WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — The Food and Drug Administration has chosen Halloween and a spooky theme to release a warning about black licorice.
Apparently it contains a chemical that could be hazardous to your heart health if eaten in excess. It can cause an abnormal heartbeat, swelling, lethargy and high blood pressure. The FDA says it can also have negative interactions with drugs and dietary supplements.
Used in moderation however its recommended as a treatment for heartburn and other gastrointestinal problems.
