PORTAGE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The family of murder victim Theresa Lockhart says there will probably be a mass in Kalamazoo County, and funeral services in Grand Rapids, where her family lives.
Her sister Joan Mullowney says they had been holding out faint hope that she might still be alive and coping with the news of her confirmed death, after her body was found this week in a shallow grave in the Allegan State Game area.
Mullowney says she is trying hard to forgive Christopher Lockhart, who confessed to killing Theresa last May in a suicide note he wrote just before he hung himself. I know what’s happened to her though and I now know where she is so going forward now we can start to get a funeral burial for her and she can rest in peace.
“God has given me the grace to forgive. It’s a sad thing to say that he took the coward’s way out and that I probably can’t forgive. I know what’s happened to her though and I now know where she is so going forward now we can start to get a funeral burial for her and she can rest in peace.”
Christopher Lockhart reportedly said how she died in his last letter, but police are not releasing that information and are waiting on autopsy results to confirm it.
