BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A husband and wife have been arrested and arraigned on obstruction charges but more are expected after a search of their home and property near Battle Creek.
40-year-old John Neal has been charged with stealing electric power from Consumers Energy. Both he and his wife, 24-year-old Ashley Neal are charged with obstructing police.
Deputies found a number of stolen laptops, gift cards, generators and cable stolen from Utility substations at their home on Beadle Lake Road.
They also found a variety of illegal drugs: prescription, meth and several pounds of marijuana.
County Deputies say because John Neal is a repeat offender with half a dozen prior felony convictions, he could get anything up to life if convicted this time.
They are being held at the Calhoun County Correction Center.
