LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Anyone who wants to get into the medical marijuana business in Michigan will have to ‘show the green’ before they will be able to grow the green.
The State revealed at a workshop in East Lansing that they will require that growers have between $150,000 and half-a-million in liquid assets for license eligibility, depending on how much they plan to grow.
Processors and dispensary operators will have to have 300-grand in the bank and transporters and safety compliance firms will have to prove they can put their hands on $200,000 or they shouldn’t bother applying.
That’s on top of a $4000 to $8,000 dollar state license fee, a $5,000 municipal fee and regulatory assessment costs that begin at $10,000 and go up from there.
It has sparked complaints that only large outstate operations and the rich will be able to meet those standards, and that small mom and pop operations might as well stay home.
