KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The city of Kalamazoo is taking applications for the Foundation for Excellence Board of Directors.
It will initially oversee a $70-million dollar donation that is starter money for what could eventually be a foundation trust fund worth hundreds of millions, if a fundraising campaign over the next three years works out as the commission hopes.
Some of the members of the board will be appointed by the City Commission, but most will be from the community, some at large, some representing neighborhood organizations and various institutions in the community, like healthcare, education, faith-based and the business sector.
The deadline is midnight November 1st. A final slate of candidates will be listed in mid-December and appointments will be made in January.
Currently the Mayor and the City Manager are the only two members of the board, which is stipulated in the bylaws.
