ANTWERP TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A man with a serious drug problem, who had been arrested five times before for driving while intoxicated, could be formally charged for the 6th time today.
Van Buren County Deputies found him dozing in a lawn chair in the 51,000 block of M-43 at about 11:30 yesterday morning.
When they woke the 54-year-old from Paw Paw, he was so high that he couldn’t stand up.
They also determined that he was still on parole for his last conviction.
Deputies say they found a quarter ounce of methamphetamine in his pocket, and also learned that he had crashed his car into a tree a short distance away.
They believe he was using meth and prescription medication prior to the crash.
He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and a possession charge, but could face additional charges as well.
