MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – In two weeks Jeffrey Willis will go on trial in Muskegon.
The accused serial killer is charged with the 2014 murder of Rebekah Bletsch in 2014. Willis who is being charged seperately for the Bletsch murder, is also charged with the 2013 murder and kidnapping of Jessica Herringa and the attempted kidnapping of a Muskegon teenager in 2016.
Due to the publicity of the crimes, the courts have asked that the jury pool be 125 people instead of the normal 75. The court could call up to 500 people if needed when the trial starts on October 17th.
Muskegon County Prosecutor DJ Hilson says he wants someone who says they don’t care what they have read about Willis.
“I don’t care what I’ve seen on TV. I don’t care what social media says, I’m gonna listen to the facts and circumstances that are in this case and base my decision solely on that.”
Muskegon County Public Defender Fred Johnson is representing Willis.
