BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A second person has now died as a result of a violent collision last Thursday night that Battle Creek Police believe was alcohol related.
A sedan and an SUV collided at East Columbia and Riverside Drive just before 9 pm.
Dead at the scene was 56-year-old Deborah Ann Hendryx, who was a passenger in the sedan. 41-year-old Lavern Hendryx was driving the car.
He was airlifted to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo in critical condition. Battle Creek Police announced late Sunday night that he too had died from his injuries with his family at his bedside.
The name of the 32-year-old woman from Marshall who was driving the SUV has not been released pending formal charges.
She was initially arrested for driving under the influence, and may be formally charged once her lab work is completed. She was not injured.
