LANSING (WKZO-AM/FM) — State legislation is making its way through both the House and the Senate that would restrict marijuana advertisements on billboards.
The House bill is sponsored by Rep. Andy Schor, D-East Lansing. Sen. Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge, authored the Senate bill.
“It does allow any advertising of marijuana, similar to cigarettes,” Jones said.
Jones said his bill and Schor’s bill had shared inspiration.
“Recently in Lansing, billboards covered the city,” Jones said. “And it gave you a spot where you can get a weed map.”
He claims billboards like that could encourage children to use marijuana.
The Jones bill exited committee Wednesday and is being considered by the full Senate.
