UPDATE — 9/27: The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Robert Theodore Page of Kalamazoo.
KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A head-on collision along Sprinkle Road has left a 47-year-old Kalamazoo man dead.
Investigators say he may have been distracted by his cell phone.
The call came in Tuesday at 4:21 p.m. Dispatchers were told a man in a Buick sedan drifted over the center line and slammed head-on into a pickup north of Lake Street, totaling both vehicles.
He was dead at the scene.
Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pali Matyas said the cause remains under investigation.
They have ways of determining if the phone was being used at the time of the crash. They suspect it may have been distracted driving because his cell phone was found on his lap.
Both men were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the pickup, a 47-year-old from Vicksburg, was treated at the scene and released.
Names are being withheld pending the notification of relatives.
