KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The unseasonable heat that has moved into the area has cancelled a football game in Vicksburg, will close four private schools in Grand Rapids for all or part of the day, Some of the animals at the St. Joseph County Grange Fair had to be released because of the heat.
Fall officially arrives at 4:02 this afternoon, that’s when the sun will reach its autumnal equinox and Meteorlogist Ernie Ostuno at the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, says that’s the big difference between today and a day in July. He says the sun isn’t beating down on you directly.
He says this summer-like weather will hang around at least through next Tuesday, extending Michigan’s too short beach season well through this weekend.
The long range forecast is for a fairly typical Michigan winter.
