KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says Jennifer Granholm continues to be the root cause of Michigan’s economic problems, despite the fact that Granholm hasn’t been governor since 2011.
The Republican gubernatorial candidate, who announced his candidacy last week, was trying to appeal to southwest Michigan voters during a Tuesday morning appearance on WKZO-AM/FM.
Granholm’s ghost was present throughout his economic pitch.
“I want to give Michigan families a pay raise by driving a stake through the legacy of the lost decade of Jennifer Granholm,” Schuette said.
He also said he wanted to get rid of “the Jennifer Granholm income tax increase.”
Schuette wouldn’t say how he would differ from Rick Snyder, a fellow Republican and the current governor.
Polls have Schuette essentially tied with leading Democratic candidate Gretchen Whitmer. Whitmer, as a state legislator, was a strong supporter of Granholm policies.
