COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Comstock Township Board has selected who they want to be Comstock Township’s next fire chief.
They opted to enter negotiations with Matt Beauchamp, who’s been serving as the acting chief since Ed Switalski’s death along Interstate 94 in June.
Trustees were only expected to begin discussions on finding Switalski’s replacement Monday. Instead, a motion was made to accept the township superintendent’s recommendation to promote Beauchamp after some firefighters came to trustees and urged them to make a selection sooner rather than later.
The board will cast votes on Beauchamp again after contract terms are finalized.
