LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s official: orange is the new orange, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources doesn’t want to see anyone hunting for deer this fall wearing pink outfits.
State Representative Lisa Lyons, a hunter, suggested that the DNR consider allowing an alternative to blaze orange, after the state of Wisconsin added pink to their color scheme.
Officials on the other side of the lake hope it will attract more women to the sport.
The DNR did research and talked to hunter safety instructors and decided not to fix what isn’t broken.
They recommended the state stick with blaze orange and last week the Natural Resources Commission made it official.
There is nothing to prevent a hunter or huntress from using a hot pink scarf to highlight a blaze orange ensemble, or perhaps accessorize with a pink rifle.
Just don’t stand in front of a sunset, it could be dangerous.
