NORTON SHORES, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Consumers Energy and DTE Energy are in Florida helping restore power to millions after Hurricane Irma.
They are among the hundreds of utility companies across the country helping with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Consumers Energy spokesman Roger Morgenstern calls is a herculean task to get the lights back on in Florida.
Consumers Energy employee Ben McCrumb was asked if he’s ever seen what he’s witnessing in Florida with millions of people without power.
“I personally have not. I’ve never been a part of something of this magnitude. So many people see the Consumers Energy logo on your shirt and they are so incredibly grateful that we come this long ways to just help them out.”
Monday evening Consumers crews arrived in Boca Raton and will be in Florida for as long as two weeks.
