KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s three college presidents have jointly issued a statement of support for DACA students, urging congress to come up with a way to not only save but to enhance the program, which encourages young but undocumented immigrants, to stay in school, get jobs, join the military and obey the law.
WMU’s Ed Montgomery, Kalamazoo College’s Jorge Gonzalez and KVCC’s Marilynn Schlack say their campuses are better places because of the DACA students.
Montgomery joined with protestors on Tuesday, and expressed his opposition to ending the program.Congress has been given six months by the White House to come up with immigration reforms that include either approval or the end of the DACA program.
