LANSING (WKZO-AM/FM) — As schools are opening for fall term statewide, First Lady Sue Snyder has announced the third round of the Campus Sexual Assault Grant Program.
She is asking for applications to fund projects that will reduce or eliminate sexual assaults among college students. The program will have about $600,000 to award, $100,000 more than the first two years of the program.
Such programs have recently come under fire from Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, who claims they have treated men unfairly, and is reconsidering Obama Administration determinations that rape culture on campus is a form of discrimination and subject to Title 9 federal funding.
Snyder’s program is entirely funded by the state.
The grant application deadline is at noon on October 19.
