KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation says traffic restrictions will be suspended on most state highway and freeway construction projects over the Labor Day travel weekend.
MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa says driving should be a breeze through southwest Michigan.
“There will be no restrictions in the Kalamazoo area,” Schirripa said. “We have a handful over in Berrien County along the I-94 corridor and one over in Albion.”
As for the rest of the state, there won’t be many restrictions.
“We are lifting 77 of 109 active traffic restrictions statewide, so almost 70 percent,” Schirripa said.
AAA says over 1 million Michiganders will be traveling over the extended holiday weekend. Most will be driving.
