KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Communications Workers of America are touring the Midwest, accusing President Donald Trump of failing to keep his promise to protect American workers and accusing the firms that employ them of offshoring their jobs to countries with lower wage scales.
Rep. Jon Hoadley says he will propose legislation in Lansing that would require call center operators to give workers a 30-day notice of layoffs.
The legislation would also punish firms that take jobs off shore by listing them in a registry that would make them ineligible for state tax-breaks, grants and loans.
They held a rally Wednesday across the street from the AT & T call center in Downtown Kalamazoo.
