KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — They drive pink fire trucks all over the country, raising funds for local individuals who have cancer and other diseases, need help with their bills, or just need a hug.
Tuesday night, the Pink Heals Tour arrived with sirens blaring to offer solace to the family of Comstock Fire Chief Ed Switalski, who was killed by a wayward driver along Interstate 94 in June, and Tiana Carruthers, one of the survivors of the 2016 shooting rampage in the Kalamazoo area.
Both Holly Switalski and Carruthers joined hundreds who have signed the pink fire truck. Sen. Margaret O’Brien, R-Portage, tells us one of her priorities when she gets back to Lansing next week will be to have a stretch of Interstate 94 named for Switalski.
Both of the women brought their children to the event. They also signed the truck.
The Pink Heals Tour also had Bronson Methodist Hospital’s pediatric care unit on their schedule while they were in town.
