BARRY COUNTY (WKZO-AM/FM) — A motorcyclist from Hastings was killed in a collision in Barry County that Michigan State Police say may have been due to excessive speed.
For now, they are saying 39-year-old Shane Doorn lost control of his motorcycle on a curve on Briggs Road near M-179 and was thrown into the path of a pickup coming in the opposite direction.
He was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.
It happened at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Yankee Springs Township.
Police say it appears to be the fault of the motorcyclist, but will follow through on tests and examine all the evidence before closing the case.
