KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — Police in Kalamazoo Township say a 49-year-old man is jailed on a list of felonies after an early Monday neighborhood dispute that nearly turned deadly.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of Woodward Avenue around 5:25 a.m. When they arrived, a 34-year-old woman told them her 49-year-old neighbor had been in his truck shining his headlights at her house, apparently mad over not being compensated for a used water heater that was uninstalled from his residence.
She claims the man tried to run her over at one point, but instead took out her bushes in the front yard.
After ramming his truck out of the yard with her truck, other neighbors joined her at front of her residence. That’s when he allegedly pulled a gun and fired five rounds from an nearby intersection.
Officers recovered two handguns from the man’s truck. He was booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail on a charge of felonious assault and multiple gun crimes, including possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
