LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Lena Epstein says she was involved in a twitter hack on Thursday evening and is condemning the Michigan Democratic Party for circulating screenshots of her supposedly supporting alt-right ideologies.
In a statement released to the media, Epstein, who is of Jewish decent and faith, claims that the Lena Epstein Campaign Twitter account was hacked at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 17. The hacker had used Epstein’s account to like posts by Klu Klux Klan leader David Duke. The posts champion ultra-conservatism and call for an end to the first amendment. The posts to Epstein’s twitter account have since been deleted.
Michigan Democratic Chairman Brandon Dillion took screenshots of the posts from Epstein’s account and shared them on his own public twitter account, commenting that Epstein must have a “fondness” for Duke and neo-nazism.
Epstein retorted in her statement: “This is an affront to the Jewish community and I am disgusted by Chairman Brandon Dillon and the Michigan Democrat Party for exploiting what is so obviously false.”
She wants the chairman to delete the posts that mock her and for Dillon to apologize on behalf of the Michigan Democratic Party. At this time, he has refused.
Lena Epstein is an automotive-industry businesswoman from Southfield. She is running against declared candidates John James and Robert Young Jr. for the republican nomination against Democrat Debbie Stabenow for Michigan Senator in 2018.
