UPDATE – 8/17 at 8:50 a.m.: The intersection has been reopened.
ORIGINAL STORY:
KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety has shut down Woodward and West Kalamazoo avenues after an apparent two-vehicle crash that left one person dead.
The exact cause of the wreck isn’t clear at this stage, but officers found one vehicle on its roof when they responded to the Stewart Neighborhood intersection before 3:45 a.m. The driver of that vehicle was dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle was able to climb out and was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Commuters are being urged to seek an alternate route as the investigation continues.
