KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A lot of college students may be “majoring in beer” to the despair of their parents, but the student brewers at Kalamazoo Valley Community College can really take some pride in making that claim, after earning national recognition for their ability to craft their own beer.
The School has its own custom made brewery on an upper floor of their downtown campus and they have been putting it to good use.
The program, which recently took top honors at the U.S. Open College Beer Championship, has now been named by the Master Brewers Association of America as among the 8 best programs in the country. ‘
KVCC V.P.Dean McCurdy says “This recognition puts Kalamazoo Valley up there with other institutions that have been doing this a lot longer.”
