NILES (WKZO AM/FM) — A Niles man who told police he couldn’t follow through on a suicide pact with his girlfriend after strangling her to death, has been ordered to undergo a competency exam.
James Huffman of Niles turned himself into police a few days after he admitted he killed Angela Cluver earlier this month.
His attorney told the judge that Huffman is having suicidal thoughts but is refusing to take anti-depressants citing religious beliefs.
His prosecution will remain on hold until the doctors say he competent to aid in his own defense.
He is being held on a million dollars bond.
