KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A man is reported in serious condition after he was run over in the 400 block of East Michigan Avenue by a freight train that was crossing through downtown Monday evening.
Responding public safety officers immediately applied tourniquets to the man’s injured legs. He was loaded onto a Life EMS ambulance and taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital, where he immediately underwent emergency surgery.
They are saying it doesn’t appear to be foul play. The conductor had seen the 53-year-old man walking along the tracks just prior to the incident.
Investigators are trying to figure out what happened and are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which occurred at about 9:45 p.m.
