GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — Mosquito testing in Kent County has revealed the presence of West Nile Virus for the first time this season.
It was found in a pool of mosquitos where a trap was placed in the city of Grand Rapids.
There have been no human cases so far.
Health officials are advising residents in the area to wear bug spray, avoid going out at night, wear light colors and purge your yard of standing water.
Those are good tips for anyone who would rather not have encounters of the bloodsucking kind.
