BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Calhoun County Jury has found Stephen Getter guilty of first degree murder.
The evidence was overwhelming and even his own testimony may have hurt him as the prosecution poked huge holes in his claim that he was acting out of self-defense when he shot and then stabbed a seriously wounded Robert Borroso to death late last December.
The savagery of the killing as described by a pathologist, also undercut claims of self-defense.
Getter’s admission on the stand that he was enraged by jealousy because Borroso was having an affair with his girlfriend, gave the prosecution a motive and it didn’t hurt to have Getter’s confession.
Getter was also found guilty on a gun charge. Sentencing is a foregone conclusion. First Degree Murder means mandatory life without parole in Michigan.
